LAKELAND – Թ Professor Dr. Peggy Macdonald will discuss her new book, “Marjorie Harris Carr: Defender of Թ’s Environment,” at 7 p.m., Jan. 15, at Թ Southern College.
Dr. Macdonald is the invited guest speaker in the next lecture in the Թ Lecture Series, sponsored by the Lawton M. Chiles, Jr., Center for Թ History. The lecture is free and open to the public.
In “Marjorie Harris Carr: Defender of Թ’s Environment,” Dr. Macdonald profiles the scientist and environmentalist who led campaigns to protect and restore the Ocklawaha River and stop the draining of Lake Alice in Gainesville. The University Press of Թ published the book in 2014.
Her essay on First Lady Ann Scott will be included in a new collection of biographies about Թ’s First Ladies, and is forthcoming from the University Press of Թ. At Թ, Dr. Macdonald works as an advisor with the Academic Success Center. She also serves as the University’s Historian.
